Charise Ngo, ASW

Associate Clinical Social Worker #112232

Providing individual and couples therapy for anxiety, relationship building, and parenthood adjustment to women, pregnant and postpartum people, and parents in San Francisco + California

People who know her can't decide whether it's her huge heart or organized mind that make Charise so good at being a therapist, so we've decided it's the combination of the two.

When on paper it looks like you should be happy, but you feel pushed around by worries, intrusive thoughts, sadness, or relationship woes, it can feel soothing to let it all out, get to know what’s happening, learn new skills, and partner in problem solving. Charise will do just that and more.

You will want to work with Charise if you are:

  • a budding or mid-career professional woman and/or mom experiencing general or perinatal anxiety, depression, trauma, or grief,

  • are experiencing the transition to parenthood for the first or second (or third!) time,

  • are navigating sadness of a pregnancy loss or the many worries tied to pregnancy after a loss,

  • are partnered with someone who often needs to be away from home

  • are a couple wanting to maintain the foundation of their relationship and build their communication skills.

About:

Growing up in San Jose, California, Charise found herself listening and seeking depth in her interpersonal relationships, and guiding people through hardships. And since childhood she received reports that she talked too much during class. She was in high school when she set the intention to combine these two factors and become a collaborative therapist!

She went on to complete her undergraduate work In psychology at San Francisco State University and her Masters of Social Work at Capella University. While her partner was stationed in North Carolina, she completed her practicum and did postgraduate work in a multidisciplinary private practice and worked in adoption services before heading back to the Golden State and practicing medical social work at Stanford Health Care.

As she embarked on her own motherhood journey, she grew a particular interest in providing therapy to the perinatal population. Her goal is to be a supportive part of the village during this transition whether for a first-time parent or one adding another child to the family. She sees through a strengths-based lens and uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, and solution-focused approaches to therapy.

In her spare time you can catch her trying a new baking recipe or reading cheesy romantic novels.
